Danish design is well known for its qualities of style, craftmanship, functionality and timelessness. In our collection we have pieces from Arne Jacobsen, Kaare Klint, Verner Panton, Hans Wegner and many other Scandinavian designers.

Danish Design was developed in mid-20th century and is a style of functionalistic design and architecture. It was influenced by the Bauhaus school. Danish designers combined the use of the new industrial technologies with ideas of simplicity and functionalism to design buildings, furniture and lamps. These have become iconic and are still in use and in production. This style is often described as Organic Functionality, a modernist school with prominence given to functionality. This school of thought arose primarily in Scandinavian countries with contributions by Alvar Aalto, Poul Henningsen, and Arne Jacobsen. Alot of furniture designs were the result of a cooperation with a furniture manufacturer with which they initiate a collaboration. This movement reached a peak during the 1950s and 1960s.
