Welcome to Bom Design Furniture my vintage design furniture website.
I grew up in beautiful Cape Town, South Africa, and have been living in bustling Rotterdam, The Netherlands for over 25 years.
Holland is really a fantastic design paradise for me. Lots of great architects, artists and designers have left their mark on the things around us. I came here to study graphic design and photography at the Art Academy in Rotterdam, fell in love with my partner and stayed.
The dutch have a really pure way of designing which you can see when you browse through the products on my site.
My passion for mid-century design started out when I was a student. My appartment slowly filled up to extremes with beautiful vintage furniture lamps and chairs I bought and collected. So I started selling some pieces on the internet. This led to the birth of my site which has been online for over 10 years.
I also design and produce functional objects in small series. For my designs I uses graphic imagery such as letters and printed images. My designs are a result of my search to use unconventional materials to create extraordinary constructions with an eye for detail. Click here to see some of my designs.
My lovely clients come from all over the world; from Brooklyn to Tokyo. Among my clients are: architects, filmmakers, artists, interior designers, private clients, collectors, etc.
I’ve been privileged to have a few of my pieces included in exhibitions in museums in Holland and in the Vitra museum in Weil am Rhein, Germany.
The collection includes pieces by legendary designers such as: Charles and Ray Eames, Cees Braakman, Arne Jacobsen, Louis Weissdorf, Friso Kramer, Wim Rietveld, Joe Colombo, Hans Wegner, Pierre Guariche, Verner Panton, Ilmari Tapiovaara, Hein Stolle, Pierre Paulin, Raak, Anvia, Hala, Pastoe, Louis Kalff, Gino Sarfatti and many others. All the pieces are original vintage from the fifties, sixties and seventies.
